Falkirk needs more trees

Postby mike » Wed Feb 03, 2010 2:45 pm

I live in Falkirk, Scotland and I keep noticing that the level of trees (groups of trees rather than a couple along the side of a road) seems to be falling. Everywhere I used to see trees is a house or a road, reducing the amenities for all but particularly limiting where kids can play. I send my kid out to play and he has a bit of grass in between some roads! Thats it. No wide open green spaces.

Is everyone seeing the same erosion of our green and pleasant land?

Hi Mike, this is a definite trend throughout Central Scotland in general i think. Aside from the areas around the big public parks in Glasgow (my home city) - much of the place is covered in roads or generically ugly 'apartment' blocks. We need to reclaim our 'Dear Green Place' somehow............i imagine things are much the same in Falkirk?.......

You should try being stuck down in the sticks, a place a like to call Beith, All thats in the place is trees and grass i would happily swap for a bit of concrete or something along these lines, maybe even sand?

Hi guys. I live in Ayrshire and we don't have your problem. Everywhere we look is green, green trees, green grassy area's. I think the reason may be the fact - not that many people want live in Ayrshire - but I can't understand what Falkirk has that Ayrshire does not. I think you should post this to your local MP. Green is the way forward.

I live in Glasgow and the nearest thing we get to greenery is just after Christmas when the street is littered with discarded trees which the bin men fail to pick up!!!!
